PROFESSIONAL HIGHLIGHTS

DIRECTED RESEARCH

My Dissertation is on Alfred Schnittke's Polystylism as reflected in his first Piano Sonata. Other topics I have researched in-depth at the direction of my professors include:

  1. Piano Sonatas of Muzio Clementi (1752 - 1832)
  2. Piano music for children and youth by Robert Schumann (1810 - 1856) and P.I. Tchaikovsky (1840 - 1893)
  3. Piano compositions of Alfred Shchnittke (1934 - 1998)

I also developed an interest and gained experience in orchestral conducting and orchestration; my most significant achievement in this area has been to orchestrate Tchaikovsky’s Grand Sonata for Piano, Op. 37.

INDEPENDENT RESEARCH

I have conducted research in books, articles and the Internet in order to develop repertoire within a common theme, compile program notes for mine and my student’s repertoire, and write concert-related articles for the local newspaper.
